The West Trenton Garden Club kicked off the first Birmingham Park Spring Cleaning Day on March 11, 2026, and the results were impressive.

Ten volunteers gathered to begin preparing the park for the growing season. In just two hours, the group made remarkable progress and demonstrated the spirit of teamwork that defines our club.
Volunteers worked to prepare all of the front garden beds, clearing winter debris and refreshing the area with new mulch. The timing was perfect. Early spring bulbs are already beginning to push through the soil, and the fresh mulch will help protect the young shoots while giving the beds a clean, finished look.
The Birmingham Park committee expressed sincere appreciation to the volunteers who came out to help: Anne Skalka, Barbara Lear, Paula Fisher, Mary Corrigan, Karen Lewandowski, Elizabeth Czelusniak, Emily Czelusniak, and Ginny Sari. Their efforts made a visible difference in a short amount of time and set the stage for a beautiful spring display at the park.
Birmingham Park holds special meaning for the West Trenton Garden Club and the surrounding community. The park includes the club’s Blue Star Memorial Garden, honoring members of the United States Armed Forces, and will be the site of an event this coming July 3rd to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.
More Spring Work Ahead
As winter gives way to full spring, the Birmingham Park team will be organizing a second round of Spring Cleaning later in March. Additional volunteers are always welcome, and these work sessions are a great opportunity to spend time outdoors while helping maintain one of West Trenton’s special community spaces.
Stay tuned for details on the next volunteer day—and thank you to everyone who continues to help keep Birmingham Park looking its best.
